On 3 and 4 September 2026, the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) Future Rural Africa marked the start of its third funding phase with a kick-off event and workshop at the Katima Mulilo Campus of the University of Namibia (UNAM).
The opening session included welcome remarks from Michael Bollig, co-spokesperson of the CRC TRR Future Rural Africa and Kenneth Matengu, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Namibia.

In the afternoon, project teams presented their research. On 4 September, participants explored the CRC’s research in greater depth through working groups and field trips.
