The gender board is pleased to announce that Romie Vonkie Nghitevelekwa has been chosen for the Female Researcher’s Grant 2021 with her research project “From subsistence to commodity production in rural communal areas of northern Namibia”
Romie Vonkie Nghitevelekwa works at the University of Namibia, Department of Social Sciences, and is an associate researcher at Future Rural Africa project, (CRC 228). Her research will investigate the transformation processes of subsistence to commodity production in the rural communal areas of northern Namibia. She will analyze the integration of the rural farmers into commodity relations, including the examination of former subsistence products in agricultural value chains, as well as assess their impacts on rural livelihoods and communities.
