As Europe’s largest and most international conference with an African focus, ECAS2027 – the 11th European Conference of African Studies – will be held as a face-to-face event from 30 June-3 July 2027 in Lisbon, Portugal. The theme of the conference, hosted by AEGIS is “African Prisms”. The theme aims to speak to the multiplicity of disciplines, perspectives, methods, histories, and images that shape the contemporary study of Africa. At its essence, a prism refracts light, revealing a spectrum where once appeared unity. The conference organizers are warmly inviting panel proposals from scholars of all relevant fields within African Studies.
Deadline for panel submission: 27 September 2026.
