The volume “Agricultural Intensification, Environmental Conservation, Conflict and Co-Existence at Lake Naivasha, Kenya“, edited by Gerda Kuiper (DAAD Global Climate and Environment Center „Future African Savannas“ (AFAS)), Eric Kioko (Project C03 Green Futures) and Michael Bollig (Project A04 Future Conservation) was published recently:
Lake Naivasha, Kenya, is singular in its diversity. Major processes of agricultural intensificaton, biodiversity conservation efforts, and natural-resource extraction have simultaneously manifested themselves in this one location. In addition, the Naivasha area has become a hotspot for research in the past decades. This interdisciplinary volume brings together 15 chapters by 29 contributors, providing a comprehensive analysis of the century-long socio-ecological transformation of Lake Naivasha and its surrounding.
A first book launch in a series of small events (otherwise taking place in East Africa) will be organized at the GSSC in Cologne, as part of a summer school of the DAAD Global Climate and Environment Center AFAS, with over 20 students and staff members from West and East Africa present. Please join us to learn more about the volume, for a short Q&A with several editors and chapter authors, for meeting the AFAS-students and/or for enjoying some small finger food and drinks!
