IPCC special report 2019 – Interview with Dr. Anja Linstädter

Principal Investigator Dr. Anja Linstädter of CRC Future Rural Africa was interviewed by the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ). The interview was published online on August 8, titled “Wenn das Ökosystem kippt, hilft auch kein Regen mehr”.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published it’s 2019 special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems recently. On this occasion, Dr. Anja Linstädter was interviewed as part of a special commentary in the Süddeutsche Zeitung as her scientific research profile is related to all of the IPCC report topics.

The interview is mainly concerned with ecological tipping points, land-use change and their relation to global climate change as well as food security. Among other things, the journalists were especially interested in her project on carbon storage in savanna systems (Future Carbon Storage – project A01 within the CRC).  The interview, conducted in German, was published in print as well as online on the website of SZ.
