Public Lecture: Antifeminism in Academia – With Laura Sasse
Anti-feminist movements are increasingly influencing public discourse and expanding the boundaries of what is considered acceptable to say, even in academia. At universities and in academic institutions, anti-feminists seek to negate gender-sensitive research findings, undermine achievements in gender equality policy, and bring their anti-science and anti-democratic positions into the mainstream of society, ranging from subtle rejection to open hostility. How can we recognize anti-feminism, and what options for action are available to us?
These and other questions will be explored in a lecture-and-discussion format on November 18, 2026, at the University of Cologne. In an introductory session, we will examine current developments in anti-feminist trends at universities and in academic contexts and address the question of strategies for dealing with them.
Laura Sasse, works as a freelance academic education consultant for organizations such as Dissens – Institut für Bildung und Forschung e.V., focusing on the core topics of antifeminism, right-wing gender politics, sexism, gender-sensitive pedagogy, intersectionality, and feminism.
