Book Presentation: “Pokot Pastoralism: Environmental Change and Socio-Economic Transformation in North-West Kenya” by Dr. Hauke-Peter Vehrs

On Wednesday, October 12, the presentation of the book \”Pokot Pastoralism: Environmental Change and Socio-Economic Transformation in North-West Kenya\” took place at the Department of History, Archeology & Political Studies at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Upon the invitation of Karani Shiyuka, Hauke-Peter Vehrs presented his book that was published by James Currey in May 2022. Therein he explores topics around pastoralism, social and ecological changes as well as local perspectives on the future of pastoral livelihoods and landscapes.

 

Research on this book took place in 2013-15 and will continue in the A04 project \”Future conservation\” in the coming years.
