The implementation of diversity policies and gender mainstreaming are essential structural aims of the CRC-TRR 228 “Future Rural Africa” and its funding body, the German Research Foundation (DFG). Within the research centre, the Board for Gender Equality and Diversity is tasked with working towards achieving equal opportunities for women and men, to eliminate existing structural disadvantages for women within all university status groups, to improve the conditions for balancing science, career, studies and family, and to promote diversity in science. Among other things, the Board regularly hosts workshops, organizes events and on a yearly basis, awards the Future Rural Africa Female Researcher’s Grant to female researchers from the Global South at an early stage of their career.
On the 23rd of January, the Board for Gender Equality and Diversity organized a joint visit to the exhibition “Antifeminism – A Political Agenda” at the NS-Documentation Centre in Cologne. Running from July 5, 2024, to February 2, 2025, the exhibition provided insights into how various forms of antifeminism manifest in the German context and how anti-feminist actors pursue a political agenda.
